How it's calculated
Whole months come first: we step from the start date one calendar month at a time. When a month is too short for the day, it's clamped to that month's last day, so January 31 to February 28 is exactly one month. Whatever is left over is counted in days.
Totals count the start date but not the end date, the usual way to measure a gap. Tick "Include the end date" to count both. Business days are Monday to Friday, with no holidays removed. Hours assume 24-hour days, so a daylight-saving change in between makes the real figure an hour more or less.

Is the end date included?
Not unless you tick "Include the end date". By default we count from the start date up to, but not including, the end date; including it adds one day.
How are months counted?
By calendar month, like the EDATE function: January 15 to February 15 is one month, and so is January 31 to February 28, because February has no 31st.
What if the end date is before the start date?
You still get the time between them, with a note that the dates are the wrong way round. The Swap button puts them in order.
Can I share a result?
Yes. The page address holds both dates (for example ?from=2026-01-01&to=2026-12-31), so copying the link shares exactly what you see.
